The Dangers of Myspace

Posted in Community at 9:35 am by Jim

It’s a trolling ground for unseemly characters of all varieties, as yet another report today makes quite plain:

Police are investigating how a convicted sex offender got five boys to ride around with him in the middle of the night in Nashville last weekend. Police say Michael Wayne Ingram may have met one of the boys through a MySpace social networking page on the Internet. Hermitage patrol officers stopped Ingram shortly after midnight Saturday because he was driving recklessly on Stewarts Ferry Pike, police said. After the officers pulled the car over, they found five boys, ages 12 to 13, in the car with Ingram, who was convicted of raping a boy in 1991. Ingram, 39, was so intoxicated that he could barely stand and officers were unable to give him a series of field-sobriety tasks, according to a report.

It’s not safe out there in Myspace land.

The Annual MMC Holiday Lights Program will be this Tuesday at 7 PM.  It’s always a wonderful program and if you have never attended, you will really enjoy it.

Wednesday at 6:30 the Deacons will meet and we will have our Business meeting followed by Bible Study at 7.

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will be received through the end of the month.  Our Church goal is $1500.  Help us help our Missionaries as they share the Gospel all around the world.   Two people have pledged matching funds to $1500 - so please give what you can, sacrificially.  And if you would like to issue a ‘challenge’ to encourage others, see the Pastor.

The Children in Action are again distributing your Christmas Cards to other attending members.  Drop your cards in the box in the vestibule, for members who attend only, and they will be taken care of.  The last day cards will be received is December 19.

This Thursday- Deacon and Wives Dinner- Ryans in Oak Ridge, 5 PM.

Dec 24- Annual Christmas Program, 7 PM.
