First, the arrangements have been made for Heather’s funeral: the family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday night and the funeral will follow at 8. Heather will be buried Friday at 11 at Phillips Cemetery in New River.
Herbie’s sisters are still in critical condition though the older is doing well, talking, and improving. The younger, on the other hand, is not doing quite so well. Please continue to pray for all involved in these two tragic accidents.

Please be in prayer today and for the next little while for Heather’s family. She was killed this morning in a single car accident. [Originally posted at 7 am on Tuesday].
WATE TV 6 has a few more details and points out that not only was Heather killed this morning, but the sisters of our own Herbie Morris were critically injured in another accident.
Heather’s family will make funeral arrangements tomorrow (Wednesday) and I will post them when they become available.
Herbie’s sisters have both undergone surgery and will hopefully recover, though it is too early at this point to be sure. Pray for him, and them.

Last night was the VBS workers picnic- the official conclusion to the VBS “season”. We had a great time and here are a few photos (of many taken):

If you didn’t work in VBS this year, make plans to do so next. It’s a great opportunity to share the Gospel with the community.

I mentioned the other day that we had to conduct the funeral of a young man killed in Iraq. Below are some of the photos I took while we were over there: his mom and dad, the Church, and the awards he received posthumously. Please do continue to pray for Christopher’s family as the loss they have endured is profound.

A Church I served in North Carolina and a family in that Church we love has suffered the loss of their son in Iraq. Please pray for the Johnsons. I remember when that young man was just learning to swim, attending Sunday School, excited about VBS, coming to Christ, and facing a bright future. Sorrow is the only word that fits. The funeral will be difficult, to say the least.

Here she is, in her costume for the ‘day job’. We thought you would enjoy seeing it. Her cousins visited the park and took this photo last week. As always, click to enlarge.
