Last night at the Leadership Conference the leader of our group mentioned the following fascinating statistic:

90% of Pastors believe that the purpose of the Church is to reach out to the world in the name of Christ.   10% believe that the purpose of the Church is to minister to the needs of its members.

90% of laypeople believe that the purpose of the Church is to minister to their needs.  10% of laypeople believe the purpose of the Church is to reach out to the world in the name of Christ.

The workers arrived this morning and immediately set about tearing out even more of the brick- exclaiming that the cracked materials (from the aforementioned drive-by and crash into) were more extensive than they first thought.  So, rather than re-bricking the wall today as scheduled they tore out more and hope to do the brickwork tomorrow.

Looks bad doesn’t it.
