Rebuilding The Wall
April 17, 2007
Most will remember that a couple of months back someone smashed into our Fellowship Hall on the northwest corner of the building, cracking the exterior brick from the ground to 10 feet high. No one, of course, ever came forward to admit that they had done it so it remains an unsolved mystery who vandalized our property.
Today, repairs have begun. Workers are presently repairing the damage. I’ll take photos as I have the chance through the process. According to the foreman- the project should take two days. Click the thumbnail to enlarge.
Baptists and Virginia Tech
April 17, 2007
This morning the shock still hasn’t subsided after yesterday’s horrific tragedy. But I’m proud of my Baptist friends in Virginia who have responded so magnifcently to the events at Tech. Associated Baptist Press reports
Ministers from Blacksburg Baptist Church and officials from the Baptist General Association of Virginia’s campus ministry at Virginia Tech and had only to cross the street onto the school’s campus to provide counseling services to students and other affected members of the university community.
That’s not all they are doing, rest assured. Another bit of good news (if there can be any in such a thing) is that
Mark Appleton, a BGAV campus minister with Virginia Tech’s Baptist Collegiate Ministries, said as of early evening April 16 he was not aware of any students involved in Baptist campus ministries who were killed or injured in the killing spree.
Still, everyone on the campus has been affected in one way or the other and the entire town of Blacksburg is in shock. Continue to pray for the folk there and the people ministering to them. And thank God that more weren’t killed or injured.
